Where do the exchange rates come from?

Rates are the euro foreign exchange reference rates published by the European Central Bank (ECB) every working day around 16:00 CET, supplied via the open Frankfurter API. Cross rates (for example GBP to USD) are derived from these reference rates.

Why is my bank's rate different?

Reference rates are mid-market rates. Banks, card providers and exchange bureaus add a margin (spread) and sometimes fees, so the rate you actually receive is usually a little worse. Use this converter to judge how fair an offered rate is.
